Merkavat Ha’Mishneh, Chidushim on the Mishneh Torah of the Rambam, by Rabbi Aharon Alfandri. On the sections of: Mada, Ahava, Zmanim. Izmir, [1755]. Only edition.
The Gaon Rabbi Aharon Alfandri (1702-1774, Ozar Ha’Rabbanim 1492) was a famous genius and was considered one of the great Torah scholars of Izmir in Turkey. Towards the end of his life he immigrated to Israel and resided in Hebron. His composition “Merkavat Ha’Mishneh” became one of the most basic compositions on the Rambam. He also composed the book “Yad Aharon”. The Chida [Rabbi Chaim Yosef David Azulai] writes about him: “I had the privilege of knowing the Rabbi… and immensely enjoyed the Torah and holiness which radiates from him, and I have heard from his Holiness who wrote compositions on all the sections of the Rambam, and the Yoreh De’ah as well as some sections of Choshen Mishpat, which were entirely burned”.
At the end of the “Introduction by the author”, a handwritten inscription combined with the name of the author which was printed at the end of the introduction.
