Manuscript (Chabad "bichel"), copying of Hemshech "Mayim Rabim 1876" discourses, by Rabbi Shmuel the Rebbe Maharash of Lubavitch. [ca. Last decades of the 19th century].
Headings on the first pages: "Vayeira", "Toldoth 1876", "Chayei Sarah 1876", "VaYetze 1876". The Bichel comprises 198 chapters )chapters 121-198 feature a "Kitzur" – a concise version of the text, following each of the chapters(.

Hemshech "Mayim Rabim 1876" is based on the "Mayim Rabim" essay in the book "Torah Or" by the Alter Rebbe. "Hemshech" in Chabad terminology refers to a series of discourses clarifying kabbalistic and Chassidic topics, with each discourse a continuation of the previous one. Rebbe Maharash was the first to develop this style of discourse.
The present Hemshech was found in many "Bichelach" and was only printed for the first time by the Lubavitcher Rebbe (with commentary and references), in the book "Torath Shmuel – Shaar Shelishi" (Brooklyn, 1946). The printed version of the text was largely based on a copy prepared by the renowned "Schreiber" (copyist) Rabbi Shmuel Sofer, with minor variations from the present manuscript.
