Interesting letter, containing reply to a request for a photograph "since eight years I have no photographs of mine and I have not yet made others because in these countries this fashion has ended and there is no demand for them".
The letter continues with the issue of acquiring antique manuscripts . At the end of the letter, the Dikdukei Sofrim relates to the first book of Ephraim Deinard, "I own his book Toldot Even Reshef, and it does not seem right to me" [!].
Rabbi Raphael Netta Rabinovitz (1834-1888) an exceptional Ga'on, a leading researcher of the Talmudic versions and a known bibliograph, lived in Munich many years (from 1863) and copied by hand the Munich alterations of the Talmud and other manuscripts and prints, and published his creation "Dikdukei Sofrim".
Ephraim Deinard (1845-1930) historian writer and polemicist, his books aroused much criticism. Deinard was considered a provocative writer, writing with no inhibitions about controversial topics.
