Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Baharan Levy (1834-1909, Otzar Harabbanim 18767), was a great rabbi and leading activist in Jerusalem. A modest and holy Gaon, served as Rosh Yeshivah in "Yeshivat Haran" that he founded in memory of his father, Rabbi Nachum of Shadik.
Rabbi Shlomo Zalman used to go to Jaffa in the last days of summer, where he would oversee the picking of Eterogim and their purchase from the orchard owners. During that season he had more time to study, and most of his novellae are from those days. (See enclosed material).
