Behind the servant light, surmounting a shaft, is a circled Star of David.
Unique Hanukkah lamps like this one were produced in limited quantities by the teachers and students of the network of polytechnical schools known as ORT (Organization for Rehabilitation through Training) in the 1950s and 1960s. They were presented as gifts to donors, heads of state, and mayors. The inspiration for the images of the Maccabees was derived from the work of the artist Hans Teppich.
