Large collection of dozens of letters, letter drafts, printed booklets and printers' sheets – extensive correspondence between R. Shlomo Aharon Wertheimer of Jerusalem (researcher who publicized the Cairo Genizah and Yemenite manuscripts, and author of dozens of books) and members of the Sassoon and Ezra families in London. Includes illustrated Shana Tova letters in color lithographic print. Jerusalem, 1924-1935.
The letters include interesting correspondence, discussions and studies regarding early manuscripts, sponsoring of book publications, and more. The collection includes over 24 letters handwritten and signed by R. "Shlomo Aharon Wertheimer". Most of the letters are addressed to Mrs. Farha (Flora) Sassoon and her son R. David Sassoon (most letters are in Rashi script, two are in English).
• 9 letters and letter drafts from Mrs. Flora Sassoon and her son David Sassson, addressed to R. Wertheimer (some are signed). • Typewritten letter with a transcript of a Beit Din ruling from the Chassidic Beit Din in Jerusalem, and transcript of a letter from R. Shlomo Aharon Wertheimer, describing the development of the institutions of the various communities in Jerusalem. • Printers' sheets sent by R. Wertheimer during the printing process. • Printed booklets by R. Wertheimer. • Paper items related to R. Wertheimer – broadside announcing eulogies upon his passing, booklet in his memory, printed portraits and more.
