Ketubah (marriage contract), recording the marriage of Yosef ben Yechiya Shaul to the bride Sa'ada bat Moshe Banebashti. Alexandria (Egypt), Tishrei 1888.
At the top of the ketubah is a decorative title: "He who find a wife, finds good…", written in a circle in gilded ink. In the center of the circle is the abbreviation of [B'Siman Tov].
Witnesses' signatures: "Chaim Baruch Danon" and "Yitzchak A--- La'am" and the signature of the groom. Stamped "Neve Shalom – Kolelot Alexandria ".
After the witnesses' signatures is a tosefet ketubah from 1904, signed by "Avraham ---", and the signature and stamp of the Chacham Bashi Rabbi Eliyahu Chazan, Rabbi of Alexandria .
50 cm. Fair-good condition. Stains. Tears along the folding marks, with damage to text. Restored.
