The book focuses on the historic and artistic aspects of illuminated manuscripts of the bible from the ninth and tenth centuries and fragments from the Cairo Genizah. Eight color facsimiles of illuminated manuscripts of the bible and of a Samaritan bible appear at the end of the book.
