The book by Father François Timoléon (1644-1724) chronicles the life of King David. With 48 half-page engravings (numbered and captioned in Latin in the plate), presenting different scenes from the Biblical story: the killing of the lion and the bear, David's triumph over Goliath, Shaul throwing his spear at David, and more. On the title page is an engraving with the publisher's mark, and on the following page is a dedication engraving. In the beginning of the book is a full-page engraving (signed: A. Schoonebeek).
[5], 84 pp + [1] engraved plate at the beginning of the book, ca. 19 cm. Good condition. Stains and some creases. Small tears to margins of engraving at the book's beginning. Old, worn binding.
