Hanukkah lamp. Holland, 1693.
Cut, pierced, repoussé and engraved brass sheet.
Back plate in the form of a pointed arch, in its center a convex decoration in the form of an upside-down heart surrounded by leaves and circles, some of them pierced. On the plate margins are fifteen convex balls. The shamash (cast) is located in the center of the plate (in Dutch Hanukkah lamps the shamash is usually placed on the side rather than in the center). A row of oil fonts is hung on the back plate, beneath it a catch basin for dripping oil decorated in the front with convex circles, some of them pierced. Engraved in the middle of the plate - to the left and right of the convex decoration - is the lamp's year of production: 1693.
Length: 23 cm, width: 28.5 cm. Good condition. Some breaks and bends.
