A Hand Written Page by Rabbi Shalom Shabazi

Opening: $900
Sold for: $1,125
Including buyer's premium
A page out of the book of Job chapter 41 verses 5-25, with a translation into Arabic by Rabbi Saadia Gaon al-Fayyūmi [Yemen 18th Century]
Upon expert analysis the handwriting is that of Rabbi Shalom Shabazi (1619-1695) of the great poets and scholars of Yemen.
This is a rare piece both because of the identity of the writer, and since Rabbi Saadia Gaon's manuscripts of translations of the Ketuvim are rare. Rarest of them all is his translation of Job.
This item is accompanied by a letter from Professor Shlomo Tzuker, a leading expert on Jewish handwritten manuscripts, to validate its authenticity.
2 Pages. 20 cm. Poor to fair condition. Stains. Physical deterioration with pieces missing from margins. Restored professionally.
