Rabbi Yosef Shapotsnick (1882-1938), was born in Kishinev to his father the Rebbe of Belzitz. Received rabbinic ordination by the Maharsham of Berzan. Arrived in England in 1913. A brilliant and weird person. Acted in many areas: published books and periodicals; annotated Shas "Great of the Greatest", released 40,000[!] agunot; offered cures for mental and physical ills, gave charity and more. In his activity to release agunot he irritated the leading rabbis in his generation, see enclosed material.
