Colorful embroidery, apparently made by a detainee in the Cyprus detention camps. [ca. mid- to late 1940s]. The work depicts a watchtower occupied by sentry, with pair of projecting spotlights, and with barbed wire fence in foreground. At bottom: military tent-camp living quarters. Inscription, embroidered between tent and barbed wire fence: "Sovenir [sic] of Cyprus." Monogrammed "FA" in margin. Approx. 60X46 cm. Good condition. Fold lines. Stains (mostly minor). Minor unraveling.
