The editor, Isaac Meir Wise (1819-1900), was one of the Reform Jewry movement leaders in the United States, rabbi of "Bnei Yeshurun" congregation in Cincinnati and founder of "Hebrew Union College". Wise believed in uniting American Jewry and hoped to publish a new American reform prayer book titled “Minhag America”. The Machzor presented here is part of this project. (See: Goldman 44). 212 pp. 16 cm. Good condition. Minor stains. Gilt edges. Fine binding with gilded decorations, slightly damaged. Library ink stamps.
