Cyprus Diary. [The writer's name, place of printing and year are not indicated. Presumably, Givat Brener, 1947].
Four mimeographed typescript leaves, with illustrations, describing the affair of the illegal immigrant ship "Shabtai Luzinsky", during the 12th to 25th of March 1947: the arrival of the ship to the Nitzanim beach, the deportation of its illegal immigrants together with local residents (who identified themselves by the sentence "I am a Palestinian Jew") to a detention camp in Cyprus on SS "Empire Rival" and their stay in the camp, until their return to Palestine. The diary was presumably written by a member of Kibbutz Givat Brener who was one of the volunteers, residents of the area, who came to the beach to make it harder for the British to identify the illegal immigrants and were eventually also deported to Cyprus.
The illegal immigrant ship "Shabtai Luzinsky" is remembered in the history of illegal immigration as one of the few ships that managed to offload illegal immigrants on the shores Palestine after World War II.
[4] leaves (7 printed pages), 33 cm. Good condition. A few stains. Pinholes to upper margins. Tears restored or reinforced with tape.
