Twenty-six letters, copies and drafts, handwritten and typewritten, documenting attempts to release the brothers Yehudah and Israel Hochman who were held in detention camps in Latroun and in Eritrea. Jerusalem, Bnei Brak and other places. 1945-1947. English and Hebrew.
The collection includes many letters from Chaya and Haim Hochman (brothers of Yehudah and Israel), response letters from the British authorities and letters from advocate David Keter who handled the case.
The collection includes:
* Copy of a letter dated 28.1.1946, from Chaya Hochman to the General Officer Commanding, Headquarters Palestine, Jerusalem, describing in detail the brothers' arrest, claiming that they are innocent and asking to release them. English. Three copies.
* Notice dated 19.1.1946, on official stationery of the Palestine Government, district Commissioner's Office, Lydda District, Jaffa, announcing the injury of Yehudah in a shooting incident in a camp in Eritrea (apparently the "Bloody Incident" in Sembel camp on 19.1.1946). English.
* Telegram sent by Chaim Hochman to the Chief Commander in Jerusalem, requesting the immediate release of Yehudah Hochman following the abovementioned announcement. English.
* Five announcements on behalf of the Criminal Investigation Department, Palestine Police, P.B.O. 850, Jerusalem, acknowledging receipt of money from family members and confirming that the money will be forwarded to Yehudah Hochman, detained in an Internment Camp in Eritrea. English.
* Letter, handwritten on official stationery, from advocate David Keter, informing the family about the forthcoming release of one of the brothers. Hebrew.

Enclosed: four original envelopes in which the letters were sent, three vouchers for sending a telegram and a receipt written by hand by David Keter.
Size and condition vary. Good-fair overall condition. Filing holes, stains, creases, folding marks, tears and open tears (mostly small, at margins) and defects.
