Commemorative stones from the Jews in Crimea, excavated and discovered by Avraham Yerushalmi Perkowitz. Vilna, [1872]/
A description of Perkowitz’s journey through Crimea and Caucasia, mainly through the years 1839-1849, during which he collected ancient books and manuscripts from archives and Jewish communities. Includes numerous lists of the tombstones’ inscriptions and 15 folded picture-charts at the end [of the document] (which cannot be found on all copies).
Perkowitz (1787-1874), well versed in Karaite Theology, antique books and manuscripts collector. Forged numerous tombstones in order to prove the antiquity of the Karaite settlement in Crimea.
