Colorful Ketubah on Parchment – Ancona, 1844

Ketubah (marriage contract), recording the marriage of the groom Judah Mordecai son of Jacob Hacohen with the bride “Miss Russa daughter of the dear Joab Joshua Haim Abraham Israel Solomon Tisoro”. Ancona 1844. Parchment. Square Italian writing, with a border decorated with leaves and flowers, colored by hand. At the top of the ketubah is a drawing of angels carrying a carriage and in it the words: ”Besimana tava ubemazale mealya lchatane ulecalata and to all Israel, Amen”. Signatures of witnesses: "David Haim Rossi” and “Mordecai Nissim Zingoli”. At the bottom of the ketubah undertaking of the brothers of the groom to perform kosher halitza, if the groom dies without children. Maximum height: 62 cm., width: 47 cm. Good condition, folding marks, stains. Framed in a 71X56 cm. frame. Not examined outside the frame.
