Seventeen velvet and fabric Tefillin bags. [Eretz Israel and other locations, late 19th - first decades of 20th century].
Embroidery on velvet and fabric; print on fabric.
Most bags are embroidered with vegetal patterns and in their center an embroidered image of the Western Wall or a Star of David with the word "Zion". In addition - an embroidered inscription: "Mazkeret Yerushalem / Kotel Ma'aravi". Some bags are embroidered with the image of the Cave of the Patriarchs, a Star of David with the word "Tefillin" in the center, a Star of David with Tablets of the Law in its center. Two printed bags. Two bags bear names and a year. Tefillin are held in some of the bags.
Size and condition vary. 15X13 cm to 21X25 cm. Fair condition. Tears, unraveling and wear.
