Two booklets handwritten by Yossef Meyuchas with translations of proverbs from the Arab language, and letters sent by Meyuchas to the editorial of "Hazofeh", Jerusalem, [1939]. 1-2. "Yalkut Pninim – from writings by Arab sages", by "Yossef Meyuchas Ish Yerushalem", [1939]. Two booklets written by hand, with sample translations of 22 Arab proverbs. Both booklets have an identical title; one is a draft written on pages from a calendar and the second is a more neat version, written on leaves from a notebook. [7] written pages; [5] written pages, approx.21-22.5 cm. Fair-good condition. Tears; detached leaves. Stains, creases, mainly at margins. 3-4. A letter and a draft of a letter (in ink and in pencil), handwritten by Meyuchas and addressed to the editorial of "Hazofeh" newspaper in Tel-Aviv. [August, 1943]. Meyuchas writes in the letter that he is sending a sample of his new book, and that in his opinion "it is worthwhile translating again into current Hebrew the same important Spanish books which were previously translated, in order to help present day readers to understand them" (Hebrew). Yossef ben Rachamim Nathan Meyuchas (1868-1942) – educator, author and public figure, one of the heads of the Jewish community in Jerusalem and one of the founders of "Sha'are Zedek" neighborhood in the city as well as the National Library. Meyuchas authored many essays about the Arabs and their culture. Presumably, this manuscript has never been published.
