Opening: $100
Unsold
Nineteen press photographs documenting the hijacking of a TWA flight from the United States to Athens by members of the Popular Front. [London, 1969].
On August 29, 1969, a TWA aircraft was hijacked by two members of the Popular Front. 7 crew members and 120 passengers were on board, among them six Israelis. Most of the hostages were released right after landing in Damascus except for two Israelis who were imprisoned in a Syrian prison for more than three months, until their release as part of a prisoner exchange deal.
Among the photographs: hostages held in Damascus airport, a passenger carried by another passenger after their release, press conferences after the release, family members of the Israeli hostages, and more.
Press information notes (English) are pasted on the back of the photographs alongside ink-stamps of press agencies.
Enclosed is a photograph of a press conference after a hijacking attempt of an "El Al" aircraft in September 1970.
Size and condition vary. Average size: 20X25 cm. Good condition. Inscriptions and markings on the back of a number of photographs. Stickers at corners. Some stains.
