Collection of Letters sent to a Royal Air Force Soldier, 1943-1946

Opening: $200
Unsold
About one hundred and twenty letters sent to Joseph Mann (Manni) of Kefar-Baruch, 1943-1946. Hebrew and German.
Mann joined the British Royal Air Force during World War II. Towards the end of the war he became ill and was hospitalized in a military hospital; his widowed mother (Fanya) was also hospitalized due to a sickness. The letters were sent by relatives and friends, some of whom served as soldiers in the Jewish Brigade. The letters reflect the induction of the Yishuv to the British forces during the war: letters from Kefar- Baruch members and the Galilee were sent to Joseph from Eretz Israel, Italy, Rhodes, Slovakia, Port-Said, Belgium and other places. Size varies. Generally in good condition.
