Wooden plaque with a carved tank decoration, was presented to the singer Yaffa Yarkoni, "With appreciation for the concert tour in the Suez canal line", from the Breachers (HaBokim) battalion, 1969.
The singer Yaffa Yarkoni ( 1925-2002), winner of the Israel Prize for Israeli song, was one of the popular singers in the pre-Israel days. She accompanied the I.D.F. from the day of its establishment. Yarkoni performed hundreds of times for I.D.F. soldiers during Israel's wars and also during peaceful days, she was not hesitant to perform in the battlefields themselves; thus she was dubbed "songstress of the wars" (Although she preferred to be called "songstress of the soldiers). The 52nd armor battalion, called the Breachers (HaBokim) Battalion, whom granted Yarkoni this gift, fought during the War of Attrition in the Sinai zone. The plaque is attached to a small stand, on which there is a plaque with an engraved dedication.
Height: 13cm, Length: 8.5 cm, width: 24 cm. Some damage to the wood.
