Birkei Yosef – Signed Glosses

Opening: $250
Unsold
Birkei Yosef, on Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim, by the Chida. [Thessaloniki, 1810]. Second edition.
Several scholarly glosses in Oriental handwriting from the time of printing, signed by their author: "HaYinon" "Yinon" [possibly Rabbi Yehuda Navon of Jerusalem? / or Rabbi Ya'akov Nunes-Vais, Rabbi of Livorno after the Chida, who would sign with the acronym "Yinon"]. The content of the glosses indicate that the writer was an important scholar in the times of the author. Inscriptions of dedications to the Yefa'er Anavim B'Yeshua Yeshiva [a renowned Jerusalem yeshiva, established by wealthy individuals from Livorno, the Chida himself studied there in 1758].
The copy is missing the title page: [1], 217 leaves. 29 cm. High-quality paper, good-fair condition, stains wear and tear, new binding.
