Letter from Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneersohn – the Lubavitcher Rebbe, addressed to R. Menachem Porush of Jerusalem. Brooklyn, NY, Sivan 1961.
Typewritten on the rebbe's official stationery, with his handwritten signature and corrections.
In his letter to R. Menachem Porush, Knesset member for Agudath Israel, the rebbe expresses his surprise at R. Porush for thinking that Chabad Chassidut would change its time-honored principle of having no political affiliation.
Addition of one letter and some punctuation in the rebbe's handwriting.
The Lubavitcher Rebbe's approach to the Agudath Israel movement was centered around the Lubavitch tenet of apoliticism, and refraining from associating with anything politically affiliated. This letter was written following a request that the rebbe officially intervene on behalf of Agudath Israel.
This letter was published in part in Yamim Tovim im HaRebbi. It was presumably never published in full.
[1] leaf. 28 cm. Thin paper. Good condition. Stains. Filing holes. Folding marks.
