Collection of poems by Yiddish poet Isaac Berliner, accompanied by twelve illustrations and a portrait of the poet by his friend, the artist Diego Rivera. Signed in the plate.
Poet Isaac Berliner (1899-1957), born in Lodz, immigrated to Mexico in 1922. His poems, some of which deal with political and social issues, influenced contemporary Mexican artists, including Diego Rivera (1886-1957) and Rivera's wife, artist Frida Kahlo.
207, [4] pp, approx. 23.5 cm. Good-fair condition. Tears to margins of several dozens of pages at the beginning of the book, slightly affecting two of the illustrations. Several pages remained unopened at top. Closed and open tears to margins of cover and spine. Sticker to lower spine. Back cover detached.
