Hanukkah lamp. [Holland, 19th or early 20th century].
Cast brass; sheet brass.
Hanukkah lamp of the type used by the Portuguese community in Holland. At the top of the back plate are two fleur-de-lis decorations. At the edge of the central decoration is a Star-of-David-shaped ornament, in the center is a hook for placing the shamash (missing), surmounting the Hebrew inscription "Hanukkah". Inserted in a brass-aheet holder and suspended from two hooks attached to the back plate; placed above a basin for collecting dripping oil.
Length: 31 cm, width: 24.5 cm. Missing shamash. The row of oil fonts may not be original. Missing screws. Missing side plates (?). Soldering repairs to top decoration.

Cast brass; rivets.
Crescent-shaped back plate, with eight gates, a vase with flowers, apertures in vegetal motifs and two encircled stars. At the top of the plate are two large birds; between them is another encircled star. The side plates also feature apertures in vegetal motifs and a bird at the top of each plate. A row of long, pinched oil fonts.
Length: 23 cm, width: 22 cm. Good condition. Some corrosion. The birds at the top of the back plate are somewhat loose.

Length: 19 cm. Width: 21 cm. Lacking a decoration at top of back plate. Small break to one of the side plates and some slight defects.

Small Hanukkah lamp showing the influence of an Italian source. This design originates from the city of Demnat in the Marrakesh region. It is characterized by a small, light back plate with narrow twigs. The top bulges are shaped as small birds; at the top of the lamp is a clover-shaped decoration. Adorned with line and dot patterns. Four square holders for oil, each of which has two mouths for wicks.

Based on a 17th-century Italian design: the general shape of the back plate is triangular, and it is decorated with a fish-scale pattern; the side plates are shaped as towers with bulges at the top. In this lamp, two bird decorations were added to the top third of the back plate (characteristic of North African Hannukah lamps), as well as a fleur-de-lis decoration. The shape of the oil fonts and shamash is characteristic of Italian Hanukkah lamps.
Length: 19 cm, width: 25 cm. Some corrosion and stains. No screws.

On the back plate, which consists of two parts connected with rivets, are openings in vegetal shapes. In the center - a row of arched gates and on top - a window shaped as a horseshoe-arch. On the left and on the right - four birds. A suspension loop on top, with a fleur-de-lis decoration.
Length: approx. 38 cm. Width: 23 cm. Break at the center of the back plate (at upper margins of lower part). Corrosion.

Length: 24 cm. Width: 17.5 cm. Improvised hinges and clasps were added to the side plates (old additions). Lacking decorations on top of the side plates.

The shape of the back plate is reminiscent of Marrakesh Hanukkah lamps (mostly made of sheet brass) from the 19th and 20th centuries, and of Dutch Hanukkah lamps of the 18th and 19th centuries, but the lamp may have been produced in Eretz Israel.
Back plate decorated with vegetal motifs. In the center is the shamash, surmounting a medallion with the Hebrew inscription "These lights are holy".
Length: 23 cm, width: 19.5 cm. The oil fonts and shamash are soldered onto the lamp.
