Unsold
[Tempio Israelitico di Firenze]. Album with three color lithographs depicting the great synagogue of Florence. [Florence, Italy, ca. 1882]. Italian.
The album contains three color lithographic illustrations depicting the great synagogue of Florence – its exterior, the hall and its interior (the lithographs were printed at the A. Arrigo Press).
With an introduction headed by the name of Rabbi David Jacob Maroni (1810-1888), Chief Rabbi of Florence. The introduction, by Gustavo Cassuto (presumably the publisher of the album), also refers to David Levi, the president of the community, who bequeathed his estate and fortune to the establishment of the synagogue.
Presumably, the album was printed for the inauguration of the synagogue in 1882 or several years later (before 1888, the year of Rabbi Maroni's death).
Album 28X19.5 cm. Fair condition. Lithographs in good condition, with some stains. Tissue guards torn and lacking. Losses and tears to binding. Loose binding.
