Photos of the monument unveiling ceremony in memory of the Templers of Sarona who died in WW I. Jaffa, April 1926.
Seven photos in an album, annotated in detail by hand and dated. The names of seven of the photographed are listed, all of them Templer dignitaries.
Sarona in the fourth colony established by the German Templers in Eretz Israel in the second half of the 19th cent., about four kilometers north of Jaffa.
During WW I much tension prevailed between the Jews and the Sarona Templers: Tel-Aviv citizens were under the patronage of Czarist Russia (enemy of Germany), while many of the colony members joined the Emperor's army and the Templers colonies served as a German espionage and propaganda base. Average sizes of photos 11.5X17 cm, album 21.5X28 cm. Good condition.
