In this book, Nechemya Hayun, a well-known Shabtai mekubal (see previous item), responds to the Chacham Zvi who protested Hayun's book Oz L'Elokim and his Shabtai tendencies. The book contains a letter with a summary of the words of the Chacham Zvi and the "ruling of the Amsterdam Beit Din" of the Sephardic community who justifies Hayun and opposed the Chacham Zvi, the argument of the author with Rabbi Naftali Katz, etc. [9], 40 leaves, 15 cm. The book was printed in two stages: The book was printed at first, leaving empty spaces for the illustrations, and later the illustrations were added by imprints from etched copper plates. This copy contains all the illustrations except for the map at the end, Stamps of “Aharon Elnakaveh from Algiers". On the flyleaf before the title page is a later inscription: “I purchased it in 1941 … with G-d’s help I have to reprint it … in Modern Hebrew, Y.Z. Sasson, here Algiers”. A collection of photographs of the reception in a synagogue in Tel Aviv, in honor of the appointment of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef as Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv. [1969]. Rabbi Ovadia Yosef (1920-2013), born in Baghdad, at a very young age ascended to Jerusalem, was already famous at a young age for his Torah genius and began to write and teach Torah to multitudes. In 1948, he travelled to serve in the rabbinate in Egypt and on his return to Israel in 1951 served in the rabbinate of Petach Tikva. In 1958, he was appointed member of the Jerusalem Beit Din and in Tishrei 1965 was appointed member of the Great Beit Din together with Rabbi Elyashiv and other elder rabbis of his times. In 1969, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef was appointed Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv-Jaffa and in 1973 was appointed Chief Rabbi of the State of Israel. These photographs were taken at the ceremony in honor of Rabbi Ovadia’s appointment in a synagogue in Tel Aviv. He is dressed in an ornamental rabbinical cloak and is wearing a rabbinical headdress. He can be seen in the photographs holding an open Sefer Torah, another photo of the official cantor blowing the shofar and other photographs taken at the reception. The photographs and the ceremony are similar to the photographs taken at another ceremony which took place in another synagogue in Tel Aviv, see attached material. 10 photographs 9X14 cm. Good condition. Minor damages.

“On the occasion of the election of the Chief Rabbi of Tel-Aviv and Jaffa”. Tel-Aviv, 1946. Booklet promoting the candidacy of the Admor Rabbi Baruch Rabinovich of Munkatch for the chief rabbinical office of Tel-Aviv. Includes the following photographs: a portrait photo [of the Admor], a photo taken during a class taught at the Munkatch Yeshiva, and a photo of the rabbinical certificate from the community of Munkatch. Rabbi Baruch Yehoshua Yerachmiel Rabinovich, (1915-1998) was an interesting figure; a Rabbi who was professor and Rebbe. He was born in Poland in 1913 to the Rebbe Natan David Rabinovich (1868- 1930). In 1933, he married the only daughter of the Minchat Eliezer Munkatch. His wedding was one of the grandest, most celebrated Hassidic weddings in Hungary. He served as the Av-Beit-Din of Munkatch. During the Holocaust he was deported from Munkatch, and after some time managed finally to get to Eretz Israel. In 1945 he moved to San Paulo, Brazil and returned to Israel in 1963 to become Chief Rabbi of Holon. After 15 years he moved to Petach Tikvah where he headed a Beit Midrash and wrote his books “Binat Nevonim” and “Divrei Nevonim”. His sons from his first marriage are the famous Rebbes of Munkatch and Dinov in the USA. [1], 36, [1] pp. 20 cm. Good condition, light stains.

A handsome flower adorns the upper part of the handle, with a spiral decoration (tip is broken). The scroll opens with blessings recited prior and after reading it and the last verses of "Arur Haman…". Height of parchment: 6 cm. height of case: 21 cm. Spots, creases and minor tears to scroll. Faded letters. Decoration on top of case is broken. Cover and base are slightly loose.
