Collection of printed paper items and aerial photographs from the time of the War of Independence. Israel [1947-1948].
* Seven aerial photographs: the "Latrun Fort" police station, the area of the "Ganim" military camp in Ramat-Gan (today, the "Maklef Camp"), Hayarkon Bridge; the Sarona colony, and more. Presumably, they were taken by the Israeli Intelligence Corps from the private plane of the Israeli industrialist Ephraim Layish (Layish donated his plane to the IDF when the war started and possibly flew it himself for the photography missions).
* Two printed paper notes with announcements from the headquarters of the Alexandroni Brigade: an order to prepare a company for a special operation commanded by "Danny K."; an urgent request for 30,000 Liras for absorbing new fighters.
* "Field Leaflet" of the third Brigade (Alexandroni) – an illustrated map of the southern front and news of the war. On its verso, a long poetic description of the battlefield (handwritten), signed "Ami Shemer".
* "Kefar Hess at War", a printed leaf with handwritten corrections – description of the battles close to the first truce.
A total of seven photographs and four printed paper items. Size and condition vary. Good overall condition.

"An additional decree to declaration no. 4 – Prohibition against leaving the country" (Hebrew), a broadside issued by "Mifkad Ha'am" (the general recruitment system of the Yishuv), the Jewish national Council and the Jewish Agency. Tel-Aviv, February 24, 1948.
"Mifkad Ha'am" was the name of the Hebrew recruitment system active since the decision of the UN about the Partition Plan for Palestine and until the establishment of the State of Israel. This broadside was issued in the midst of the recruitment process during the Israeli War of Independence and it widens the age range of people who were forbidden to leave the country to ages 16-40 (those born in 1907-1932). In addition, the broadside forbids travel agencies and companies to assist members of the Yishuv to leave the country "both by providing information, getting visas or selling tickets, and by providing transportation" (Hebrew), except those with special permits.
Approx. 44.5X34 cm. Good condition. Stains. Open tears and filing holes to margins. The broadside is mounted on thin paper for restoration.
Provenance: The Rimon Family Collection.

Eight "Order of the Day" leaves ("Daf Kravi") and a combat song authored by Abba Kovner in his position as the education officer of the Givati brigade during the War of Independence. Israel, July-October 1948. Hebrew, one leaf is in Yiddish.
During the War of Independence, approx. 80 "Order of the Day" ("Daf Kravi") leaves were printed by the IDF, the most important being those of the Givati Brigade which were authored by the poet, writer and partisan Abba Kovner. To a large extent, these leaves set the tone for those that came after them, especially during the first decades after the establishment of the state: the placement of the text, the size of the font, dealing with ethical questions and purity of arms and even the name "Daf Kravi".
1-8. Eight "Order of the Day" leaves authored by Abba Kovner during the war, seven of them signed in the plate "A.K." (Hebrew). The leaves open with the caption "Death to the Invaders!" and contain an important documentation of the battles against the Egyptian army: the battle of Negba (which is called "Negbagrad" in the leaf), the conquest of Arab villages and posts, the bombings of the Israeli air force and more. One of the leaves was printed in a different format and is not signed (possibly it served as a draft of a leaf that was later printed in the regular format).
9. "Who Said We Must Abandon – a Combat Song for Sabbath Night on the Battlefront". Printed song. Dedicated and signed "For those exposed on the battlefront, with love, Abba" (Hebrew) and dated 15.7.48.
Size and condition vary. Good overall condition. Filing holes and stains. Fold lines, closed and open tears to the margins of some of them (small).
