Approximately 60 documents, letters and paper items, which belonged to the secretary of Ferramonti di Tarsia Displace Persons Camp, Philipp Kanner. 1944-1945 (a number of items are from 1943). German, English and Polish.?* A notebook with duplicates of 56 notices handwritten by Kanner to the Welfare Committee of the camp: orders of food, maintenance instructions, notices from the camp police, Kashrut, dwelling, and other notices. Most notes are signed by Kanner and a small part is signed by the camp commander (Jan Hermann?).?* Letters and drafts, written by hand and typewritten, sent to and by Kanner. Including: a long and interesting letter by Kanner to one of the camp's officers, informing him that he intends to retire from his post. The letter brings a detailed report about the camp, failures of management, sanitation, deserting interns, state of inmates, and other subjects (two copies); a letter to the camp's commander, referring to the growing black market, to rising prices of products, and the urgent need to raise the inmates allowance; and more.?* Documents and various paper items, printed and handwritten, documenting the management of the camp. Including: list of rules and regulations for the camp's inmates; invoices, various lists of inmates (some are classified according to countries of origin, age and sex); lists of food rations; and more.?The Italian concentration camp Ferramonti di Tarsia was the largest among concentration camps established by Benito Mussolini in the summer of 1940. Most prisoners were Jewish. In September 1943, a few days before Italy surrendered to the Allied Forces, the prisoners were released. Many of the inmates stayed in the camp and it served as a Displaced Persons camp until its closure in December 1945.?Size and condition vary. Good-fair overall condition.

Two "Zionist Shekel forms used in refugee camps in Italy.
1. Provisional Shekel, 5704, 1943/1944. Zionist Organisation, Ferramonti (Cosenza, Ital[ia]).
The Ferramonti di Tarsia camp near Cosenza in south Italy was initially a concentration camp and after the liberation, from September 1943 until late 1945, served as a DP camp. The details that were added by hand to the form indicate that a refugee named Tibor Steinmann donated 5 Italian Liras in January 1944.
7X12 cm. Fair condition. Tears and open tears, some of them restored, affecting the text. Stains.
2. Shekel HaYovel (Jubilee Shekel), 1948.

A special issue for the anniversary of the appearance of the journal "Unzer Vort", the journal of the Poalei Zion – Hitachdut" party for She'erit Hapletah in France. The issue contains articles about the institutions of the Zionist movement and the struggle of the Yishuv in Palestine; articles in memory of Jewish personalities, including Hanna Senesh, S. An-Ski, Stephan Zweig, Leonid Pasternak, and others; articles about the fate of She'erit Hapletah and information about the activity of various aid organizations in Europe; stories and poems describing life in the ghettos and concentration camps during the Holocaust; and illustrations, photographs and advertisements.
The journal "Unzer Vort" started appearing officially in October 1944, several weeks after the liberation of France from the Nazis (earlier, it was distributed by the Jewish underground movement). Its chief editor was the writer and translator Yisrael Fink (1894-1955).

Davar LeYaldei She'erit HaPletah [Davar for the Children of She'erit Hapletah], a supplement to "Das Vort", two issues – no. 14-15 (double issue) and no. 17. Munich, July-September 1949.
Two issues of "Davar for the Children of She'erit Hapletah", a Hebrew supplement to the Yiddish newspaper "Das Vort". The issues contain stories, tales and poems, as well as illustrations (one of them signed in the plate by Nachum Gutman). The front page of issue no. 14-15 features an illustration of Theodor Herzl writing "Der Judenstaat". The front page of issue no. 17 features an announcement about Herzl's burial in Israel.
The supplement was edited by Baruch Oren (Sosnovik; 1915-2004), a children's author, educator, director of the "Yad Labanim" organization and recipient of the Israel Prize for 1980. In 1948, Oren was sent by the Jewish Agency and the Joint to the camps of She'erit Hapletah in Germany, where he was in charge of education for two years. During this period, he served as a reporter of "Davar" and edited the "Davar for the children of She'erit Hapletah".

Four letters addressed to Emilie Schindler (1907-2001), Righteous Among the Nations, who saved Jewish lives during WWII together with her husband Oskar Schindler, by employing them in the factory they owned. Tel Aviv and Australia. Sent to Buenos Aires, 1960s-1980s. German.
Four letters, from Jews who survived the Holocaust thanks to the Schindlers (or from their family members): Two from Dr. Yitzchak (Janek) Dresner from Tel Aviv, one from the Reed / Feldman family in Australia, and one from Izak Stern from Tel Aviv, who served as an accountant in Schindler's enamelware factory in Kraków and was responsible for typing up the famous "Schindler list".
