The lithograph depicts the Dome of the Rock surrounded by vegetation, on the background of the residents and houses of Jerusalem. It was printed after a drawing by Daniel Wegelin (1802-1885), a Swiss artist who often painted the views of Palestine.
31x40 cm. Good condition. Many stains (most of them on the margins of the leaf). Minor creases and blemishes to the margins.

A View of the Holy Sites, created by Hillel David Braverman". [Europe, ca. mid-19th century].
A printed braodside, in its center is a view of Jerusalem surrounded by a view of the holy sites, including the Western Wall, Rachel's Tomb, David's Tower and more, alongside less common holy sites such as "Mount Sinai and Chorev" and "Mount Tabor and Hermon". On both sides of the view of the Western Wall there are two maps sketched by the artist – "The current form of Zion and Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives" and the "Form of the Temple". Some of the views of the holy sites are almost completely identical to pictures of the holy sites made by Rabbi Yehosef Schwartz, as they appeared in a lithography he had printed in 1837 (see: Zion VeYerushalayim BeRuach VeChomer [Zion and Jerusalem in Spirit and Matter], Nitza Bahrouzi. Tel-Aviv: Eretz Israel Museum, 1993. p. 23).
On the upper part of the broadside are Hebrew verses dealing with destruction and return to Zion.

The book "Itinerarium Sacrae Scripturae" was first published in 1581 and was considered then the most comprehensive description of biblical geography. Dozens of editions of the book were published during the 17th and 18th centuries.

Around the map, in a wide frame, are shown the Temple (represented as a European palace), the Temple vessels – including the Menorah, the altars and table, the High Priest and King Solomon (in Turkish attire), and more.

Atlas of Palestine by the Armenian cartographer Zadig Khanzadian, with 134 maps, most of them in color (numbered 1-135) and two illustrated title pages. Printed on thick, quality paper (separate sheets, folded in half).
The maps present the historical, political and economic geography pf Palestine: maps 1-99 present its historical geography – Ancient history, Middle Ages and Modern history; maps 100-127 presents its political geography during the British Mandate – the distribution of the Jewish and Arab populations, urban Zionist settlement, education, health, demography, and more; maps 128-135 present its economic geography – nature resources, agriculture, fishing, industry and banks, communication, roads, trains and ports, tourism and industry, and more.
At the beginning of the atlas, a letter by the author to the Secretary-General of the League of Nations, Eric Drummond, is printed, revealing the reason for the making of the atlas – the blood-soaked 1929 Palestine Riots.
The sheets are in a leather-covered portfolio, with a nice relief on its front – a copy of the illustration of the title page.
