Compilation of paper items related to the National Loan (HaMilve HaLeumi) which was collected in Israel close to the time of the establishment of the State of Israel. Tel Aviv, May 1948.
Included in the collection: * "To each Jew in Israel", a leaf announcing the loan and its terms. * Small advertisements of the loan for distributing in the streets, directed towards various populations – parents, women, non-recruited citizens, etc. For example: "The citizen at the home front! Think if you conscience is clean regarding the country and its defenders? Did you already sign a National Loan?", "If your son asks you: Father, Mother, did you sign the Nation Loan? – Tell him with a clean conscience, we have fulfilled our obligation – for you, for your future!", etc.
Immediately preceding the establishment of the State of Israel, the public was required to purchase loan certificates which were tradable documents. The government aimed at reaching the goal of 5,000,000 Israeli liras which were allocated for covering the war costs. These funds were loaned to the Jewish Agency for five years, with the United Israel Appeal and the JNF guarantors of the national loan by means of their property and real-estate.
9 items. Size and condition vary. Overall good condition. File holes. Light spotting and folding creases.
