Two lithographs depicting the synagogue that was to be built in Brondesbury, London. Reprints from "The Architect", printed by Sprague & Co. Ltd, Lodnon, [early 20th century].

25.5X32.5 cm. Good condition. Foxing. Two pieces of adhesive tape on top of the plate, not affecting the print.

The synagogue in Brondesbury neighborhood in London was designed by Frederick William Marx and constructed between the years 1904-1905. The prints were first published in the periodical "The Architect", published between the years 1869-1900. The prints show the façade and the interior of the synagogue according to the architect's drawings. The synagogue was set on fire in 1964 and was completely destroyed.

Juive D'Alger [Algerian Jews]. An Algerian Jewess with a maid by her, engraving by Eugène Delacroix. Printed by Delatre. Published by A. Cadart et Luquet, Paris, [1833].
Eugène Delacroix (1798-1863), French painter, visited North Africa as member of a diplomatic expedition and visited Morocco and Algiers. The interpreter for the expedition was a Jew by the name of Avraham Ben-Shimol who introduced his family to Delacroix. This journey had a serious impact on Delacroix who painted many North-African portraits, among them portraits of Jewish women after the figure of Ben-Shimol's wife.
