Letter of condolences in Russian sent by Israel Belkind to a woman who lost a relative. 1927. Russian.
The letter is written on official stationery of the national school for farming "Kiryat Sefer". Israel Belkind, a Jewish educator and a second Aiyah pioneer, founded the school in 1922 in order to take care of Kishinev pogrom orphans.
27.5X21.5 cm. Letter written on both sides of the leaf. Fair-good condition. Stains, foxing. Small tears, numerous folding marks.

Josef Kastein (1890-1946), Jewish German-Eretz Israeli writer, biographer, historian, poet and reporter, an attorney by profession. Born in Bremen, Germany, immigrated to Palestine in 1934 following the Nazi rise to power. Died of tuberculosis in Haifa in 1946.
288 typewritten pages, placed in a simple cardboard portfolio, 31 cm. Good-fair condition. Torn title page, with open tears. Wear to leaf margins. Some foxing. Cardboard portfolio worn, torn and stained.

Kastein (1890-1946), a Zionist author and historian, lived and acted in Germany. Immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1934 due to Nazi persecutions.
[1], 97 leaves (pagination somewhat out of order), most of which are written by hand and some typewritten, 28 cm. Inserted in a cardboard folder. Fair-good condition. Stains, foxing, small stains and tears at margins of leaves. Worn and damaged folder with open tears at corners and spine.

Some of the letters concern his request to lecture in the United States; one letter concerns the publication of his book and in one letter he announced that he will not donate money for starving people in Spain as long as there are starving people in Eretz Israel.
