Inscribed by Lilien to his wife on the front flyleaf, with a long quotation from the book of Psalms (page 48 in the present book); signed "Efra", as Lilien used to sign his letters to his wife.
Bookplate to inside front board, reading "Mein Kind, Mein Buch Helene Lilien" – an original engraving by E.M. Lilien.

The Old Jewish Cemetery in Prague, etching by Ephraim Moses Lilien. [Early 20th century].
The tombstones of the Maharal of Prague (Rabbi Judah Loew ben Bezalel) and his wife (Pearl daughter of R. Shmuel), appear in the center of this etching, which shows a section of the old Jewish cemetery of Prague. The original inscriptions can be seen on the tombstones.
Signed in the plate, in pencil.
Etching: 37X35 cm, matted. Good condition. Stains to edges of paper. Minor tears and blemishes to edges and worming to upper edges (not affecting etching; restored). Signature somewhat faded.
Provenance: The Rimon Family Collection.

1. Second edition, 1912. Without the original prints.
Good overall condition. New spine and endpapers.
2. Fifth edition, 1923. Contains four original prints by Hermann Struck (engraving), Oskar Kokoschka (lithograph), Max Lieberman (engraving) and Ernst Barlach (woodcut).
Fair-good condition. Body in good condition. Slight damp damage to binding and first and last leaves. The spine is torn and detached.

All five lithographs feature portraits of soldiers in uniform. Struck served in the German army during the First World War, and created several series of prints documenting soldiers, war prisoners, and the Jews of Eastern Europe.
