Abraham Stavsky led to his trial in Tel-Aviv, accompanied by British police officers – press photograph issued by the NYT (New York Times) photo agency in France, May 15, 1934.
Abraham Stavsky (1906-1948) – a member of Betar and an activist in the illegal immigration enterprise of Hatzohar, Betar and the Irgun, was arrested as a suspect in the murder of Chaim Arlosoroff together with several other members of the Revisionst Movement. He was accused and convicted of murder and sentenced to death. After public protest led by Rabbi Kook, the British court of appeals acquitted Stavsky and he was eventually released from prison. Stavsky was killed aboard the Altalena during fire exchange between members of the Irgun and IDF. Press information note (French) on verso. Stamped with the stamp of the photo agency.

Among the photographs: the 60th (British) Division entering Jerusalem (1917); Jewish Settlement Policemen in Petach Tikvah (1930s), photographer: N. Ben-Noam, Petach Tikvah; a group of motorcyclists of "Maccabee" in Beirut, on its way to Palestine (1930); High Commissioner Wauchope arriving on a horse to the ceremony of the inauguration of the King George V Forest in the Jezreel Valley; the IDF Cavalry Unit during the War-of-Dependence; lieutenant colonel Moshe Dayan, the commander of the 6th Brigade in Jerusalem (1948?), photographer: Herbert Meyerowitz; and other photographs, most of them with handwritten captions.
Size varies, 11X15 cm on average (some are larger or smaller). Condition varies. Stains and minor blemishes to sime. Traces of gluing and handwritten instructions for printing on verso of several photographs.

A portfolio, containing 17 photographs (mounted on separate Bristol leaves), depicting the activity of "Keren Hayesod" in Palestine: immigrants, absorption camps for immigrants, settlement and building, industry, picking cotton and more. The photographer's name is not indicated. At the beginning of the portfolio there is an English introduction leaf, printed on handmade paper, moulded from Papyrus (Hule), with information about "Keren Hayesod" and a list of the photographs.
[4] pp., 17 plates. Size of photographs: 12X17 cm. Very good condition, except a large stain on the first plate. Portfolio: 28 cm, with the inscription "Israel" (Hebrew) embossed on its spine; slightly distorted.
