About 40 photographs arranged in an album which belonged, presumably, to a French soldier during World War II. Palestine and other locations, [ca. early 1940s].
The album includes: photographs of sites in Jerusalem (Tower of David, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Mount of Olives); group photographs of soldiers in various sites in the Middle East; photograph of a camel rider wearing Arab Legion uniform; different photographs of local population; photographs of vessels, harbors and beaches; photographs of towers and buildings in the Middle East; and more.
About half of the photographs are titled by hand on the margins of leaves (French, some of the titles do not match the photographed site). Judging by the soldiers uniform, the titles on the margins of leaves and the photographed sites, the album may have belonged to a soldier in the Free France Forces, whose units operated in Palestine and the Middle East during World War II.
Approx. size of photographs: 8.5X6.5 cm. Condition varies. Good overall condition. Slight damage. Album: approx. 10.5X8 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains and defects.
