R. Shalom Shabazi (the Rashash; 1619-1695), a foremost Yemenite poet and leading Torah scholar who wrote Midrash Chemdat Yamim on the Torah among other compositions. The Midrash is a commentary comprising homiletics, philosophy and kabbalistic thoughts, compiled from various sources (including selections from sources unknown in our times).

Particularly thick volume, tall narrow format. Neat vocalized Yemenite script on thick paper. Title page with color decorations. The volume comprises three sections, with an index at the end of each one.
The manuscript contains hundreds of traditional poems and piyyutim of Yemenite Jewry, in Hebrew and Judeo-Arabic.
Several poems were added at a later date in unskilled hand in the empty pages and endpapers. Various ownership inscriptions (mostly deleted).
[356] leaves. Tall, narrow format: 22X8 cm. Condition varies, most leaves in good condition. Some leaves in fair condition. Stains and wear. Tears and worming, affecting text. Leaves trimmed, with damage to the notes added in margins. New binding.

Manuscript leaves, sections of R. Chaim Vital's compositions of the kabbalistic teachings of the Arizal, handwritten by R. Yosef Edrehi, trusted scribe of the Rashash. [Jerusalem, 18th century].
Most of the present leaves are from two copyings of the book Olat Tamid.
The lot comprises:
1. Ten leaves (19 pages) from the book Olat Tamid, scribed by R. Yosef Edrehi. Leaves 3-6, 50-55 of the manuscript. 12 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains, including dark dampstains. Folding marks, tears and wear.
2. Six leaves (12 pages) from a different copying of the book Olat Tamid, scribed by R. Yosef Edrehi. Leaves 40-41, 58, 60-61 and 63 of the manuscript. 21 cm. Fair condition. Stains. Extensive worming, affecting text.

R. Yosef Edrehi, kabbalist and trusted scribe of the Rashash in Jerusalem. He copied many kabbalistic compositions of the Arizal and of his teacher the Rashash. His script was particularly neat and uniform. Was active in Jerusalem in ca. 1755-1771.
Most of the present leaves are from two copyings of the book Olat Tamid.

Composition on the kavanot of the Arizal on prayers, compiled by R. Meir Poppers from the writings of R. Chaim Vital. Many copyings of this composition where produced, and it was first published in Korets, 1782. The present copying was written in a script typical of Western and Central Europe.
The manuscript is lacking the beginning and end.

Handwritten leaf, lengthy and detailed messianic calculations for the year 5543 (1782-1783). [Germany, 18th century].
Neat Ashkenazic cursive and square script, typical of the 18th century. Presumably written before 1783.
The name of the author is not mentioned in the present manuscript, however a collection of single leaves in the Berlin library (no. 1267) includes a leaf with the same messianic calculations, attributed in the title and introduction to R. Refael HaLevi of Hanover.
The present leaf contains references to Christianity which were censored from the Berlin manuscript. There are several additional textual differences (minor) between the two manuscripts.
R. Refael HaLevi of Hanover (1685-1779), prominent mathematician and astronomer, disciple of Leibnitz. Author of Luchot HaIbur and Techunat HaShamayim.

Collection of handwritten leaves, novellae on Tractate Bava Metiza - folio 2-5, 29 pages handwritten by R. Nachum (Weisfish) of Shadik (Szadek). Jerusalem, 1847.
R. Nachum Rabbi of Shadik (1813-1868), disciple of the Chemdat Shlomo. Served as rabbi of Shadik, Poland for several years, and immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1843 where he founded Yeshivat HaRan and lectured before leading young Torah scholars in Jerusalem.
This work was presumably composed while learning with his disciples in Yeshivat HaRan.
[15] leaves (29 pages handwritten by R. Nachum of Shadik). 21.5 cm. Browned paper. Fair-good condition. Stains and wear. Detached leaves. Marginal damage to text.

Two handwritten leaves (4 pages), Torah novellae by R. Shmuel Ehrenfeld, the Chatan Sofer (grandson of the Chatam Sofer). Sikso (Szikszó), [Adar II 1872].
The present leaves are presumably from the Chatan Sofer's responsa notebook. The handwriting is identical to that in the picture of his manuscript appearing in the book Chatan Sofer on the Torah (Brooklyn: Shem MiShmuel institute, 2001, p. 12; captioned there "Picture of the author's manuscript").
The present leaves contain a transcript of a responsum the Chatan Sofer sent to his mechutan R. Moshe Eckstein of Szerencs (regarding the honor accorded to Kohanim). This responsum was published (with slight variations) in Chatan Sofer on Shulchan Aruch.

Manuscript handwritten by the author, with deletions, corrections and additions. This manuscript was known to the Torah scholars of Turkey, and is quoted in the books of R. David Pipano, Choshen HaEfod and Avnei HaEfod.

After his father's passing, he assumed a rabbinical position in Serres (near Salonika). Disciple of R. Yehoshua HaKohen Perachya and of R. Refael Yaakov Menashe, author of Be'er HaMayim. Tiferet Adam, which was printed after R. Chaim Avraham's passing from the manuscripts he left behind, is quoted in halachic literature until this day. The present manuscript was presumably not known to those who compiled the book, as it should have been included.
