Textbook of Hebrew grammar. Its composer, Isaac Johann Levita (1515-1577), served as the Rabbi of Wetzlar, Germany, and later as professor of Hebrew at Cologne (during his stay in Cologne he converted to Catholicism).
[8], 9-162, [1] pp (pages numbered in Hebrew letters as well), 22.5 cm. Good condition. Ancient inscription on one leaf. Stains (dampstain throughout the book). Tears to first leaf (blank) and last leaf. Loose signatures. Small holes on inner margins of the leaves. Unbound.

Textbook of Arabic grammar, by Dutch Orientalist Thomas van Erpe. Separate title page for the second part - Locmanni Fabulae [Locman's Fables].
2. Specimen Arabicum quo exhibentur aliquot scripta Arabica…, by Johannis Fabrici (Johann Fabricius). Rostock, Germany, 1638. Latin and Arabic.
An important compilation of Arabic literature, including the first maqamat of al-Hariri (the first work by al-Hariri to be published in Europe), excerpts from Abul Ala Al-Ma'arri, an essay on Arabic literature, and more.
Both books contain owners' signatures and ancient handwritten notes on the leaf margins.

The text is accompanied by several diagrams and illustrations (woodcuts).
