Shomer Emunim, to strengthen faith. Volumes 1-2, a booklet is added at the end about loving the Creator, Ani Ma'amim and songs of devotion and joy [by Rabbi Aharon Roth]. Jerusalem, [1942]. First edition.
Approx. 13 glosses of corrections [apparently in the author's own handwriting]. Written on the last leaf, "Proofread".
Rebbe Aharon (Reb Aharele) Roth – (1894-1947). Studied at the yeshiva of Rabbi Yeshaya Zilberstein in Vitzen. Chassid and disciple of Rebbe Zvi Elimelech of Bluzhov and the Rebbe Yissachar Dov of Belz. A devoted servant of G-d from his youth. Founded groups for serving G-d with total devotion in Budapest and Satu Mare and called them “Shomer Emunim”. In 1925, he immigrated to Jerusalem where he also established groups of Chassidim and disciples for serving G-d through Chassidut. In 1930-1939, he returned to his Chassidim in Satu Mare and afterward moved to Berehove. In 1939, he returned to Jerusalem, and reorganized his holy group which continues his ways until this day in the Chassidic communities of “Toldot Aharon”, “Shomrei Emunim”, “Toldot Avraham Yitzchak” and others. (Encyclopedia L'Chassidut, Vol. 1, 175-178).
His many books (“Taharat HaKodesh”, “Shulchan HaTahor”, “Shomer Emunim”, “Mevakesh Emuna” etc.) were published in many editions. This book is the most central in the doctrine of Chassidut and faith that Rabbi Aharon bequeathed to the following generations. His first edition was published anonymously.
[1], 7, [1], 10-37, 125 leaves; [1], 11, [7] leaves (printed in another printing press?); 55, 34 leaves; [1], 44, [4] leaves. 16 cm. Dry paper, good condition, tears to the margins of several leaves. Unbound.
The book was published in stages (printed booklets) during 1941-1943, and this is the reason for the many numberings of leaves in one book. See Bibliography Institute CD Listing 0167199.
