Listed at end of pamphlet: “I, Yitzchak Levi Morteira”, apparently name of youngster who delivered the homily.

Written by several authors; contains commentaries on Aggadot Chazal in the Talmud and copies of passages of the Gemara, with notations “belongs to Beit Yehuda… chapter 3 of Eiruvin…”, “belongs to article 3…” etc. [Apparently, these are references to the book Ein Ya’akov (also known as Ein Yisrael) by Rabbi Ya’akov Chaviv].
Ownership notation: “Wise Halachic authority of Ferrara Rabbi Yissaschar Rigio”. Lengthy notation in Italian with Hebrew date 5542 [1782].
Approx. 22 written pages. 19 cm. Fair condition, stains, wear and tear.

“… prior to mealtime, and will wash his hands and recite blessing of Asher Yatzar and then will say Viduy [confession] with heartbreak as written on leaf 1 and mention his sins…”.
Vowelized scribe writing upon thick paper. Passages of study from the Torah, Mishnah and Talmud, recited prior to ritual washing of hands and Birkat HaMazon [grace after meals]. Includes Kabbalistic prayer: “Yeheh Rava Min Kadam Stima…”, Shir Shel Yom, Lamnatze’ach. Arranged according to the weekdays. Includes Birkot HaNehenin and Birkat HaMazon.
[1], 1-7, 12-26 (missing leaves 8-11 [of Birkat HaMazon], and missing from end [at beginning of Shabbat prayers]). 21.5 cm. Fair condition. Coarse tears, severe stains (apparently from daily use at table). Ownership notations.

Lengthy pamphlet by one of the rabbis of Italy. Contains a lengthy response on a Halachic polemic regarding marital relations from the year 1808. At the beginning of the pamphlet the author mentions the “virtue of the scholar David” and “the Moharich” [initials] who disagreed regarding the issue, and he relates: “The Moharich [initials] granted me permission to study the matter to the best of my comprehension and to relate this before his majesty… “. The Moharich who is mentioned is apparently the Ga’on Rabbi Yishma’el HaCohen (1723-1811), among the leading scholars of Italy, Av Beit Din of Medena, author of Zera Emet Responsa.

Indexed summary of topics according to 1608 Prague press. Colophon: “Praise G-D… who sustained me and… to complete… on Friday, 18th of Tamuz 1725. Young Shimshon Cohen Modon”. He writes in his preface: “Upon viewing his invaluable commentaries and Chiddushim, I decided to make it accessible to others to benefit from…”.

A notebook with 4 leaves and 2 color forzatz leaves, two pages have writing. 23.5 cm. Good condition.

Rabbi Yosef Yitchak son of Yissachar Galiko, a dayan and rabbi in Modena in the 18th century, taught many disciples. His son is Rabbi Efraim Galiko, author of Shashu'ei Efraim, member of the beit din of Rabbi Yishmael HaCohen of Modena.
