Seven photographs of industrial buildings by the sisters Charlotte (Lotte) Mayer (1911-1978) and Margaret (Gerda) Mayer (1913-1993). Haifa, 1952.
Sisters Mayer, two German-native photographers from Haifa, acted during the years 1934-1957. They specialized in portrait photography (some of famous figures) and photography of industrial buildings and architecture. Two photographs signed on the reverse with phtographers' ink-stamp. Average size 13X17 cm. Very good condition.

Photo-album of a British soldier who served in the Middle East, [early 1940s]. About 50 photographs were taken in various sites in northern Israel: Haifa, Tiberias, Accre, Nazareth and Safed. Three large group photographs were taken by the sisters Gerda and Charlotte Mayer and are ink-stamped on the reverse. Other photographs from Egypt, Syria, Sudan etc. Average size: 6.5X8.5 cm. Good condition.

Six are hand-signed, one is ink-stamped and one is annotated in length in German ending with "Fot. Walter Zadek". Average size 13X18 cm. Good condition. Several stains.

Copies sent to the Reference Library of the press agency, signed, dated and annotated: removing casualties from a bombing site in the Bukhari neighborhood (Lechi action); first photographs of the railway station bombing in Jerusalem (Lechi action); victims of the Mount Scopus "Hadassa convoy": bombing of the British post on the Wind Mill in Yemin Moshe, and some other interesting photographs. Average size 21X27 cm. Good condition.

Impressive professional photographs documenting the activity of IDF during the second stage of the War of Independence, following the second cease-fire. Numerous photographs document the south front: Egyptian prisoners of war in Nitzana during "Horev Operation"; conquest of Uja el-Hafir (Nitzana); Nitzanim; Negba; Medical care of prisoners; Jeep unit of "Shualey Shimshon"; conquest of villages and bombing buildings; plane towards landing; Horsemen near Gedera, etc. In other photographs: Metzudat Ko'ach (Nebi Yosha); ceremonies and military parades, soldiers in the navy, etc. One of the photographs was identified as a photograph taken by Boris Carmi (1914-2002), who served as a military photographer. It is possible that other photographs were taken by Carmi or by other professional photographers who worked as military photographers during the War of Independence. The photographs are contained in a cloth folder; on the inner side is a note with a dedication to Israel Ber, the spy: "to Lieutenant Colonel Israel Ber as a souvenir for joint work in the Operations Directorate" (partly handwritten and partly printed). Average size 16.5X11 cm. Mounted on Bristol 33 cm, cloth folder 34.5 cm. Good condition. Minor stains on Bristol leaves; minor damages to folder.

"HaBokim", photo-album documenting the regiment's activity during the War of Independence, [1947-1948].
75 Interesting photographs: maneuvers, daily life, sites in the Negev, conquest of Beit Govrin Police, etc. "HaBokim" regiment was established in 1947 and during the war was part of Givati Brigade. The soldiers were in charge of securing the south. The regiment blocked the Egyptian army on its way to Tel-Aviv, opened the way to the Negev, conquered the Egyptian posts in "Hulikat" and helped in re-connecting the Negev to Israel. Average size: 6.5X9.5 cm, album 16X21.5 cm. Good condition. Loose binding. Attached is a" Shana Tovah" card from Givati Brigade, detached.
