Large and important collection of photographs, mainly from the 1960's and 1970's, which includes many photographs from Café Casit in Tel-Aviv, and photographs taken from behind the scenes of Israeli and foreign films. The greatest cultural heroes of that period appear in the photographs: actors, singers and various artists.
The mythological Café Casit (located on 117 Dizengoff St.) was established in 1944 by Yechezkel Weinstein, known as Chatzkel Ish [man of] Casit. The café was managed by him and eventually by his son, Moshe Ish Casit. Casit served as a meeting place for the Bohemians of Tel-Aviv, a notable municipal-cultural institution in which the colorful image of father and son were prominent.
