Game board "Tiyul BaAretz" ("Journey through the Land"), colored lithograph print "Aviva", Benjamin Barlevy Publishing, Tel Aviv, early 1950's (unknown artist).
This is the first time that the Negev region appears on the map-illustrated board of a Barlevy game, but it is not yet included in the "Journey through the Land" route.
Benjamim Barlevy (1894-1964), pioneered the game industry in Israel. Born in Warsaw, emigrated to Israel at the age of 27 and dedicated 50 years of his life to developing and manufacturing games designed to instill national ideals and values in Israeli children.
67x47.5 cm. Fair condition. Slightly torn along the fold lines, lightly stained.

The board depicts pictures of the settlements of Chomah and Migdal, communal settlements (kibbutzim) and towns, water-towers, factories etc. alongside illustrations of antique coins.
69.5x50 cm. Fair condition. Stained, fold-line along center of board, professionally restored damage.
Does not appear in "Journey through the Land – games from the store of Mr. Barlevy" (David Tartakover), published by the Israel Museum, 1999.

Original cardboard packet, consists of an educational lotto game with ten colored lithograph printed boards, each board displays illustrations of six flowers, fruit and vegetables; 32 matching cards (from the original 60); pamphlet with the same ten boards and detailed explanation in English.
"Graphica biYeruahalem" Publishing House operated close to "Bezalel" and belonged to the artist Abel Pann; one of seven workshops authorized to use the "Bezalel" trademark.
24x16 cm. Boards and cards in very good condition. Pamphlet in fair condition. Pack in good condition. Cards missing.

50 playing cards, names of several flowers are printed on each card alongside sentences alluding to the name of the flower (the sentences are taken in part from writings of celebrated European writers and Yiddish authors, as described on back of pack). The players have to identify the flower in question, aided by its definition (jasmine, daffodil, tulip, orchid etc.). Rules of play are on the first card. Yiddish.
