Babylonian Talmud - Tractate Berachot, and Mishnayot Order Zera'im, with Laws of the Rosh (and its commentaries Maadanei Yom Tov and Divrei Chamudot), the Maharsha, the Maharam and the Chochmat Shlomo glosses by the Maharshal, and the Rambam's commentary on Mishnayot. Slavita: [R. Moshe Shapira Rabbi of Slavita and his son] Rebbe Shmuel Avraham Shapira, 1835.
This Talmud volume was printed at the height of the polemic between the printers of Slavita and those of Vilna, and it is one of the last volumes printed in the Slavita printing press before its tragic closure. This volume is part of the fourth edition of the Slavita Talmud, of which only the printing of Tractates Berachot, Shabbat and Eruvin were completed (in the middle of the printing of Tractate Pesachim, the press was shut down by the Russian authorities, due to the infamous libel).
The volume begins with 39 letters and approbations from leading rabbis of the generation who supported the Slavita printers. These letters and approbations contain much exclusive and valuable information on the development of the famous polemic, in which some two hundred rabbis of that generation were involved.
In response to the rumors propagated by the Vilna printers that rabbis excommunicated anyone who buys the Slavita Talmud, the approbations in the Eruvin volume contain many blessings for those who purchase this Talmud edition, including blessings for "sons, life and sustenance".
Incomplete copy. [4], 1-4, 6-17, 22-25, 18-21, 26-34, 46-54, 57-104, 108-124; 13, [1], 68 leaves. Lacking 17 leaves: first title page, leaves 5, 35-45, 55-56, 105-107. Misfoliation, leaves 22-25 bound out of sequence. Separate title page for Mishnayot Zera'im. 36 cm. Fair condition. Stains, including dampstains and dark stains (some leaves with many stains). Wear. Tears, including open tears affecting text, repaired in part with paper. Large open tears to several leaves, with significant damage to text, repaired in part with paper. Worming, affecting text, repaired in part with paper. Margins trimmed with damage to text in several places. Lower margins of several leaves cropped, affecting text. Stamps and handwritten inscriptions. New binding.

Kinat Hashem Tzevaot, caustic polemic work against Moses Mendelssohn and the Maskilim of Berlin, attributed to R. Natan of Breslov (Moharnat). [Lviv?, ca. 1880]. First edition.
False imprint on the title page: "1852, as printed in Yas".
This first edition was printed anonymously. The book was attributed to R. Natan of Breslov, and later editions were published under his name. This fact is however not conclusive. However, his authorship of the book is disputed.
On pp. 11-12, the author quotes a poem defaming Moreh Nevuchim by the Rambam. A gloss penciled near the poem states: "It is not known who composed this ugly pamphlet, but he deserves to be torn like a fish and excommunicated for disgracing a Torah scholar…".
40 pages. 18 cm. Stains, wear and tears, primarily to margins, affecting text in a few places. Inner margin of one leaf reinforced with paper. Ownership and other inscriptions. Many places underlined (in pen) for emphasis. Without binding.
