Many renowned Chassidic leaders were extraordinarily devoted to the study of the books of the Shelah.
This edition of the Shelah was printed in Amsterdam in 1698, birth year of the Baal Shem Tov, and Chassidic lore ties these two events.

The first book of the Shaagat Aryeh, through which he became renowned for his brilliance. The book was widely accepted throughout the Jewish world, reaching the community of Metz, who subsequently invited him to succeed R. Yehonatan Eybeschutz as their rabbi.
The author of Shaagat Aryeh was extremely poor, and due to a shortage of paper, the first edition of Shaagat Aryeh was written almost completely in acronyms.

Urim VeTumim, on Shulchan Aruch Choshen Mishpat, Parts I and II, by R. Yehonatan Eybeschutz. Karlsruhe, [1775-1777]. First edition. Two volumes.
R. Yehonatan Eybeschutz arranged his works on Shulchan Aruch, yet due to lack of funding, he only published the first part of Kreiti UPleiti on Yoreh De'ah, in 1764. His grandson, R. Yisrael Eybeschutz published the rest of his works, including the present book. R. Yehonatan Eybeschutz mentions this work in his preface to Kreiti UPleiti.
On the title page of vol. II, signatures of R. Gershon son of R. Tobiah Asche (ca. 1791-1867), rabbi of Prenzlau, author of Nikrat Tzur - glosses on the book of his father, Et Barzel.

Stains, including dampstains (some large dampstains). Wear. Open tears to several leaves, affecting text. Vol. I: Traces of past dampness with mold stains; many open tears, affecting text, repaired in part with paper; leaves trimmed with damage to text (including damage to title page border). Vol. II: Worming, affecting text; singeing to final leaf (affecting text). Stamps and handwritten inscriptions. New bindings.
R. Yehonatan Eybeschutz arranged his works on Shulchan Aruch, yet due to lack of funding, he only published the first part of Kreiti UPleiti on Yoreh De'ah, in 1764. His grandson, R. Yisrael Eybeschutz published the rest of his works, including the present book. R. Yehonatan Eybeschutz mentions this work in his preface to Kreiti UPleiti.
On the title page of vol. II, signatures of R. Gershon son of R. Tobiah Asche (ca. 1791-1867), rabbi of Prenzlau, author of Nikrat Tzur - glosses on the book of his father, Et Barzel.
