Poster of the New Zionist Organization, calling for the establishment of a Jewish army. Strod press, Tel Aviv, [early 1940s]. Hebrew.
"Jews of the homeland, let us establish a great Jewish army force: a force that protects, fights, avenges and liberates! Let us follow Ze'ev Jabotinsky and join the Jewish battalions!" (Hebrew). At the top of the poster is the logo of the "First Judea" Jewish battalion, with a Star of David in the center.
94X32 cm. Good condition. Folding marks, creases and stains. Tears to margins. One tear reinforced with adhesive tape.

"Join the War for Redemption, for Saving the Golah, for Absorbing the Redeemed". Poster recruiting volunteers for the "New Zionist Organization" illegal immigration campaign. Linol print: Zvi Bergman, Engelberg Press, [late 1930s - early 1940s]. Hebrew.
In the middle of the poster is a version of the movement's emblem, in the center of which is a handcuffed hand holding a seven-branched menorah, with a map of Greater Israel in the background.
34X49.5 cm. Good condition. Horizontal folding line and some creases. Small tears to margins, without damage to illustration. Some stains (mostly on verso).

Poster calling for assistance for the "Kol Torah" yeshiva in Jerusalem. "Achva" Cooperative Press Ltd., [Tel Aviv], 1941. Hebrew.
The poster calls on the public to assist the yeshiva, founded in Jerusalem in 1939 by rabbis from Germany and for German immigrants arriving in Palestine as a result of the "Kristallnacht" events.
"You shall remember the day on which the synagogues and batei midrash in Germany were burnt three years ago, on 16 Heshvan 5699 (November 9, 1938) and you will not forget this terrible day, the first day of the great national catastrophe… and take part in rebuilding the ruins and reviving the lost spirit by assisting the 'Kol Torah' yeshiva founded recently in the Holy City by the best of German immigrants, its rabbis and public figures, as a house of education for the country's youth…" (Hebrew). Text printed on a background illustration showing falling columns in flames.

This is Nazi Brutality, color offset lithograph printed by the United States Office of War Information (American propaganda bureau active during World War II). Washington, 1942. Design: Ben Shahn. English.
Illustration of a chained prisoner surrounded by brick walls; his head is covered with a hood. In the center is a caption reading "This is Nazi Brutality" and an official German notice of the destruction of the village of Lidice (Czechoslovakia) by the Nazis.
The poster was designed by the artist Ben Shahn (1898-1969) who worked at the time for the United States Office of War Information. The image created by Shahn was felt to be so disturbing that a Czech-American organization canceled the order of 40,000 copies of the poster.
