Extensive archive of documents, invitations and catalogues of exhibitions that were exhibited in "Mikra Studio" Gallery in Tel-Aviv and in "Old Jaffa Gallery". 1940s-1980s.
The collection includes tens of personal documents of the owner, Yochanan Samuel (among them interesting documents from the period prior to his immigration to Israel and from the Independence War period), alongside with hundreds of invitations to exhibitions, and catalogues, from the 1960s-1980s, of "Old Jaffa Gallery" (continuation of "Mikra Gallery") including catalogues of the following artists (with photographs and price lists): Genia Berger, Hava Samuel, Yochanan Simon, Shmuel Katz, Jacob Pins, Yehoshua Grosbard, Ovadia Elkara, Aharon Kahana as well as artists who did not gain much fame and this was the only gallery that exhibited their works. Eliezer Rosenfeld, owner of "Rosenfeld Gallery" told about "Mikra Studio" Gallery: "I came to Tel-Aviv and was, of course, looking for shops of pictures and frames. I heard that a gallery by the name of 'Mikra Studio' was the 'school' of the artists who emigrated from Europe. Here I met Shraga Weil, Shmulik Katz, Mula Ben-Haim, Holman, Streichman etc. Iram [Iram Samuel, the owner] explained to us about the painting[…] Every week I went from Kibbutz Beit Alfa to Tel-Aviv to 'Mikra Studio' and for me this was sufficient to get all the information about the art scene in the country". (From:""when in finance there was culture: early art trading in Eretz Israel" (Hebrew) by Gideon Ofrat, in the web site "Hamachsan shel Gideon Ofrat"). Size varies. Overall good condition.
